Gartner conducted a global survey of CEOs and other senior executives concerning their business objectives, investment priorities and challenges. Some of the results related to risk management and compliance include:

  • Regulation (22%) is ranked as the biggest business risk.? Respondents also mentioned a wide variety of other business risk categories most of which were related to operating margins.
  • Legal and regulatory information was cited as being the most disruptive source of new information in the next five years.

Bottom line ? To get attention to risk management as a tool for improving business performance, risk managers should do the basic blocking and tackling around regulatory risks, and also work to show how risk management can improve operating margins.
