Ethan Hawke's "The Purge" thriller is set to hit theaters on Friday (June 7th). Now comes word that Universal Pictures is so confident that the film will be a hit that it already started work on the sequel. In a new article about California's record-breaking tax credit program, there is a list of new movies that have recently filed for the tax credit and were approved. One of those movies is "The Purge 2." Another, is HBO's "Entourage" movie, filed by Warner Bros. "The Purge" currently has a 62% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes and has already grossed $1.5 million overseas. Apparently it didn't cost that much to make, because Universal can't expect to make hundreds of millions of dollars when "The Purge" is being released against such films as "Fast and Furious 6," "The Hangover 3" and "Man of Steel."

minkowski writes: on June 5th, 2013 at 7:08:00 AM Wait. California confirms? Is California person now, or a state? How can it conform anything? It's a f*cking geo-political entity. It's not alive. It's not able to speak or write. Did you mean to say "California's Tax Credits Allow More Films to Become A Reality"?

Kurskij writes: on June 5th, 2013 at 12:58:55 PM Cannon rules. Hwood, take notice. That post made me laugh more than all of your recent comedies combined. Except Prometheus. Maybe we should open our own movie blog. Call it either "Thef*ckups" (tm) or "Lecinemadujour". With scotch and cigars, hookers and goats and a spicy after taste of good old-fashioned homophobia. Will get the whole world save for LA and San Fran. And probably France. Mink will be Nikki Finke, Trig - black Ebert, Cannon and Cress will fill for Travers, but with actual sense of humid. And Tan wil be Tan. A mascot ultimate.

FBO writes: on June 5th, 2013 at 2:40:51 PM You wanna know how I know the Democrats are full of sh*t? (not that the Republicans aren't) Besides it always being the Democrats pushing for political correctness, they bithed and bitched about capital gains being tax at a different rate than income but they're not bitching about Hollywood getting tax break from both Press. Obama AND the state of California despite the fact that it breaks sales records every year. Since Hollywood is overwhelmingly liberal and liberals think all rich people should pay higher tax rates, I say we pay off our debt by taxing the sh*t out of Hollywood.
