Logitech's G Line of PC Gaming Peripherals Signals a New Era ...

Logitech G700sLogitech's new lineup represents a renewed commitment to PC gaming.

While some game developers are gushing over the recently announced PlayStation 4 console and its 8GB of unified GDDR5 memory, there are companies like Logitech that want you to know they haven't forgotten about the PC crowd. Just the opposite, Logitech today announced a new G line of gaming peripherals that the company says is representative of its renewed commitment to PC gaming.

Logitech has used the "G" prefix before, but now it's an official line of gaming products, and the beginning of a new era, the company says.

"With Logitech G, we put our passion for science to work for you," said Ehtisham Rabbani, general manager of the Logitech gaming business group. "Just as gamers are compelled to beat levels, our engineers are compelled to test scientific theories. For close to 20 years the relentless pursuit of what?s next has been our game ? and we?re pretty darn good at it. With Logitech G we will continue to push the limits of speed, precision, reliability ? even intuitiveness. We do it because gamers expect us to push the limits as far as they do. Every inspired design choice and late-night engineering argument serves but one purpose, to help gamers play their best. When science wins ? gamers win."

Enough of the fluff, what are these new products Logitech is so excited about? Well, there are eight new items in all, including four gaming mice: Logitech G700s Rechargeable ($100), G500s Laser ($70), G400s Optical ($60), and G100s Optical ($40).

"My favorite is the Logitech G700s Rechargeable Gaming Mouse; in my opinion, it?s the zenith of all wireless gaming mice," Rabbani state in a blog post. "This mouse is wireless but communicates with the computer at up to 1,000 times per second, making it up to eight times faster than a standard USB mouse. Plus, with our new advanced surface materials on the palm, sidegrips and primary buttons, the mouse is a joy to use through even the longest gaming sessions."

According to Rabbani, these rodents underwent rigorous R&D and have been tested to 20 million clicks. They're specifically designed to handle the use and abuse gamers dish out.

Logitech also announced a pair of new gaming keyboards, The Logitech G19s ($200) with a full color LCD and G510s ($120) with 18 programmable G-keys. In addition, there are two new headsets, the Logitech G430 Surround Sound ($80) and G230 ($60).
